The « APPUI » Center is an institution that provides a range of services for women victims of violence in accordance with the current legislation, particularly Law No. 58 of 2017 dated August 11, 2017, and the provisions of Government Decree No. 582 of 2020 concerning centers for women and children victims of violence, as well as the decision by the Minister of Women, Family, Childhood, and Seniors dated August 14, 2020, which approved the terms of reference for centers supporting women and children victims of violence.
This center was established by the Ladies First Association, based in Regueb, Sidi Bouzid, with support from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). It was officially opened on March 30, 2022, following the training of its team in laws related to combating violence against women, receiving victims of violence, providing supportive listening, accompanying victims of violence, and following the care process.
This center aligns with the association’s goals, particularly its efforts to promote human rights and combat all forms of discrimination and violence against women. Additionally, it responds to the need of women in the region for centers that care for women victims of violence, considering the high levels of violence and the general lack of awareness about their fundamental rights and the legal protections available to them.
